Prof. Yu received his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada and spent the subsequent years at various institutions, including UCSF, Stanford, HKUST and the Peking University. Undoubtedly, he possesses a broad cross-cultural experience base and is actively involved in both the academic and the business environment for over 40 years.
He is now a world-renowned bio-entrepreneur and a scientist with over 20 years of experience in this field. Moreover, he has published over 170 peer-reviewed scientific papers in reputed international journals, in addition to publishing several commentaries in journals like Science and Nature Biotechnology.
Apart from his aforementioned designations, Prof. Yu is also the founder and the president of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Biotechnology Alliance, on the board of trustees of the Gordan Research Conference, Justice of the Peace and a former member of the board of directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP).
With a global network and an expanding base of established contacts in China, Prof. Yu has been a significant facilitator of dialogue regarding the development of the biotech sector in Asia.
Tina LIU, MBA Director of General Management
Ms. Tina Liu obtained Master of Business and Administration (MBA) in Beihang University. She joined HKLife in 2007, serving as regulatory specialist and administration manager and now is Director of general management, in charge of the finance, administration, human resource and legal affairs. Before joining HKLife, she worked international and foreign owned enterprises such as Beijing Yanjing Brewery and Qiagen. She has strong experience and strength in administration, operation and coordination.
Dr. Russell Chan Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Russell Chan received his B.Eng. in biomedical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from The University of Hong Kong. He was a post-doc at Stanford University in Neurology and Neurological Sciences, and New York University in Neuroscience, Tech4Health, and Ophthalmology. He was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of a Forbes Asia 100 to Watch Hong Kong Startup. His focus is the research, development, application and commercialization of state-of-the-art multi-modal and multi-scale biomedical imaging and in vitro diagnostic (IVD) devices to advance biotechnology and quality of life. Dr. Chan is an elected Junior Fellow of International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), a prestigious and highly selective award for young scientists from the leading global MRI society. He is the lead of the R&D focus group and a committee member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) Biomedical Division. He is the Vice-Chair of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES) Young Member Section. He is the Vice President of HKBIO (Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization), and Vice President of the global biotech conference and exhibition BIOHK since 2023. He has published more than 25 journal papers and 75 conference papers, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) and Neuron. He is an inventor for more than 10 patents/provisional patents. He is a reviewer for Nature Protocols, Frontiers in Neuroscience and Neurology, ISMRM, and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS).
Dr. Jiangshan Zhan Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)
Dr. Jiangshan Zhan received his B.Sc. in medicine from Peking University, China and Ph.D. in medical research from University of Munich (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich), Germany with highest degree Summa cum laude. He was a postdoc at Neuroscience Research Institute, Peking University, China and Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute, Baylor College of Medicine, USA. He was elected in the China International Postdoctoral Talent-Introduction Program and Hong Kong Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. Dr. Zhan is the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of Hai Kang Life Corporation Ltd. He is leading the R&D team for developing the BioRadar® System. He is currently a reviewer for Neurochemical Research, Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience and a committee member of the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO). He has published 3 academic books and 22 journal papers including Glia, Neurobiology of Disease, and Immunology.
